ABA VET-SAFETY UPDATE
The AGM was hosted in Vienna, part of this meeting was to arrange future training events for 2016. Training will be ongoing in the UK this December including First Aid Training for the potential assessors. Other activities will be looking at MEWP operations as part of the "Work at Height" Agenda.
Overall the skills activities included:
- Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting Techniques
- Basic Tree Felling Techniques
- Advanced Tree Felling Techniques
- Tree Climbing, Hand Saw Use & Aerial Rescue Techniques (New pan-European Standard)
- Tree Climbing & Aerial Chainsaw Techniques (New pan-European Standard)
Not all instructors were initially successful but they commented positively on the high quality of the new European chainsaw standards and look forward to the opportunity to successfully complete the assessments at the next event planned to be held in the UK during December.
